Kansas City 's Jazz Tradition:
Kansas City is proud to be the home of the 18th & Vine District whose international and national reputation for the birth of classic jazz is well deserved. Some of the greatest jazz players in history started in the clubs at 18th & Vine. World-class musicians such as William “Count” Basie, Charlie “Bird” Parker, and Orin “Hot Lips” Page, among others, came together to create a sound the town can call its own.
